You can Always count on Me

On my way home tonight, the thought of cooking (boiling water, adding quinoa) bummed me out.
It was almost 10pm. I was emotionally exhausted from a night of watching documentaries, which were all depressing and hopeful (and highly recommended! http://leapbeforeyoulook.com , http://www.survivingamina.com ).

About to get a slice of pizza, I remembered the one place on my block that would surely be open, and provide my body with whole grains, protein and vegetables!
Teng Dragon on 1st Ave, btwn 116 & 117th st.

Yes, it's high in sodium and not the kind of thing to be eating when you supposedly want to lose a few inches from your waist, but dammit! Beany was hungry, and needed something hot, cheap and exotic. No, not one of the hookers in my neighborhood (although men in drag are kinda alluring).
I craved crispy tofu mixed with broccoli in garlic sauce. Brown rice on the side, and plenty of crushed red pepper. The little chili on the menu indicating a hot dish is so misleading. The food is never that spicy, so if you need that kick, get the peppers on the side.

And OMG, it was so good. The Ginseng Up soda is worth trying too. Beany likes the apple flavor!

Happy Eating, and Check out those movies!
Your heart & body will thank you

Love,

Tin
